Norcross, Ga - Tie-breakers and coin flips aside, the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) men's and women's regular season basketball games have concluded after an exciting finish to the season. Lee University men's team is seeded #1 in the East with the William Carey men's team seeded #1 in the West. On the women's side, Lee is again seeded #1 in the East, with Belhaven rounding out the field as the #1 seed in the West.
The SSAC is proud to once again team up with the Forum and the Darlington School in Rome, GA as the host sites for our neutral site championships. The Darlington School will host the first and second round of the women's tournament, while the Forum will host all four rounds of the men's tournament, with the women joining the men for the semi-final round and championship game. Tournament play will begin on Wednesday, March 2 for the women and Thursday, March 3 for the men. The tournament will continue through Saturday, March 5 with the championship games being held at 5:00 pm for the women and 7:30 pm for the men.
To get to the point where the seedings and pairing were established and now released, there were two coin flips and the use of the tie breaker system on more than eight occasions. In the women's West Division the season finished in a 4-way tie for second place behind the west champion Belhaven, with all the teams at 6-6. Also in the West Division but on the men's side, there was a tie for the #1 seed between the University of Mobile and William Carey University. The three remaining teams in the West were also tied at 6-6. The pairings and game times are as follows and can also be obtained on the SSAC championships information page.
The SSAC would like to give a special thanks to our presenting sponsor, Fuddruckers, as well as Floyd County for the partnership that makes this tournament possible.
