MILLEDGEVILLE — The Central GA Tech Lady Cougars send another outstanding young lady to a four year institution on basketball scholarship.
Christa Moore of Soperton completed her two year commitment as a starting shooting guard at Central Georgia Technical College during the 2011-2012 season. This past season consisted of her averaging 8.2 points and 6.3 assists per game, leading the Lady Cougars to the NJCAA Regional Tournament for the first time in school history. Moore was also honored at seasons end by being named to the GCAA All-Academic Team, carrying a 3.29 GPA during her two seasons at CGTC.
Southern Polytech competes in the Southern States Athletic Conference of the NAIA. The Southern Polytech Lady Runnin’ Hornets won the SSAC Championship from 2010-2011 and competed in the National NAIA Tournament during the same years. Christa Moore is being brought in to help lead the Lady Runnin’ Hornets back to Championship status.
As one of the first players recruited and signed to play for the Central Georgia Tech Lady Cougars, Moore has helped lay a firm foundation of tough and scrappy women’s basketball at CGTC. She was a leader on the court and in the classroom — the truest example of the term student-athlete.
The Lady Cougars took full advantage of 21 turnovers by the Lady Bison in the final half of the game.
“We are extremely happy for Christa to be able to move on to a four-year institution like Southern Polytech that has a great tradition of athletic success. We are honored to have had Christa in our lives the past couple of years and look forward to her achieving her dream of earning her degree and also continuing her basketball career,” said CGTC head coach Fala Bullock.
