SPSU prof. emeritus to be honored posthumously by ISA
The International Society of Automation (ISA) is giving special recognition to the
late Prof. Emeritus R. Glenn Allen during its 2012 Automation Week celebration next
month in Orlando, Fla.
At the 50th annual ISA Honors & Awards Reception and Gala on Sept. 24, Allen will
posthumously receive the Exceptional Student Mentor Award for his dedication and devotion
in the mentoring of students. His widow, Lisa Allen, and their children will be on
hand for the presentation.
Allen passed away on April 11, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was the founding director of the Mechatronics
Engineering program, was one of the original faculty members of the School of Engineering
and was SPSU’s 2010-11 Teacher of the Year.
ISA’s Celebrating Excellence Awards honor companies and individuals, both members
and non-members, for significant contributions in leadership, technical innovation
and contributions to education that have advanced the profession.
