Welcome to the Volunteering section of Student Life!
If you are looking for new ways to engage with your local community or give back, you've come to the right place. Volunteering is a wonderful way to help people, learn new skills, meet new people, network, add to your resume, and have fun! Information about SPSU Alternative Break Trips can be found on the Alternative Spring Break page. Under the Community Partners page you will find a list of Cobb County and Metro Atlanta non-profits who would love to have you as a volunteer. The Upcoming Events page lists volunteer events sponsored by the Office of Student Life and off-campus partners. If you have any questions please contact the Coordinator of Student Engagement, Jordyn Clark, at jclark25@spsu.eduor stop by her office in the Student Life office suite A-230 of the Joe Mack Wilson Student Center.

The Helping Hand Challenge is a challenge in partnership with VKSU (Volunteer Kennesaw State University) & HAW (Homelessness Awareness Week). These much needed items will be distributed to the individuals and families served by the Salvation Army. We will assemble “care bags” on November 6th.

  • Lotion
  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Deodorant
  • Toothpaste
  • Toothbrush

  • Student groups must register with the online “HAW Helping Hand Challenge” form (link above).  Any student group is eligible!! Classes, student organizations, etc.

How the points are awarded:

    • In an effort to receive equal amounts of each item, a group will receive 10 points for each complete “care bag” of all seven items. Additional items will count as 1 point.
    • Example: Your group brings in five of each item of the items listed above and four extra bars of soap = 54 points. (five complete sets= 50 and four individual items=4)
