Activities & Events
Homecoming week at Southern Polytechnic State University is an experience and tradition the students look forward to each year. The homecoming committee brings organizations together on campus to enjoy the tradition of homecoming through spirited events and memorable moments. The week consists of afternoon and evening events on campus, along with the parade and celebration at the end of the week, and the crowning of king and queen during halftime at the basketball game on Saturday. The committee is comprised of a committee chair, members, and staff. Working for months on end, they facilitate all of the events and partner with countless others to guarantee an unforgettable homecoming for alumni, students, and the surrounding community.
Everybody Geeks out on something... so this is a week of celebrating those things! From Anime to Cosplay to Magic to Robots to LOTR to Harry Potter and so much more. Come Geek out, learn something and have fun doing it.
Friends and Family Fun Series
Friends and Family Fun Events are designed for college students of all ages to bring their friends and family members to participate in fun activities throughout the year. These events provide the opportunity for SPSU students to invite up to two friends or family members to participate in countless SPSU events on and off campus. So leave the iPads, video games, and television at home, and come out to SPSU Friends and Family Fun Events to enjoy quality family time!
Each year, Southern Poly hosts a series of cultural events that are designed to entertain and enlighten members of the campus community. Our goal is to provide something for everyone’s taste – a variety of concerts, art exhibits, films, lectures, and theatrical performances. Here at SPSU we offer events for students to learn about the Arts, other cultures, as well as global issues. In addition to hosting events on campus, we also collaborate with off campus events within the Atlanta community for our students from tours at the High Museum of Arts to Improve in the Park.
This signature program affords students the opportunity to experience learning environments that occur outside of the classroom by taking advantage of local and regional events, activities, tour and programs.
SPSU Live is a student planning committee that brings bands to campus for our fall outdoor concert during welcome week. They have worked with bands and performers like Corey Smith, The Zac Brown Band, Sister Hazel, Chiddy Bang and 3LAU.
Applications are available in early spring for SPSU Live committee.
