Staff Council Minutes

The meeting was called to order and the minutes from the October 30, 2003 meeting were approved.

The budget report was provided and the Staff Council has $ 114.03 in the Foundation account and $3,502.84 in an agency account. These amounts were unchanged from the October Staff Council meeting.

Gary Chasteen, Director Administrative of the University Police, gave an overview of the changing environment on the University campus and the effect of the construction of the new residence halls on traffic flow and campus safety.

Regarding the dates for the Open Forum, everyone agreed that February, 2004 would be a good month to schedule the first Open Forum.

Amanda Canup reported that the Staff Council Web Page is operational and she is awaiting items to put on the Web Page.

Amanda reported that she is continuing to work with Ron Skopitz on establishing the Information Technology Message Board for Staff Council.

Leigh Ann reported that the process of changing the job description for specific secretaries in the academic programs is on schedule and Human Resources is involved in this activity. The proposed job descriptions will be submitted by Charles Azebeokhai, Director of Human Resources, by mid December to Dr. Rossbacher for her approval. Leigh Ann stated that Donna McPherson, Sharon Hodge, and Alberta Cook have been very involved and extremely helpful in this area.

Regarding new business, Leigh Ann reported that Jeff Carter had contacted the Chief of the University Police and the Director Administrative for Facilities Management in regards to the current state of campus crosswalks. The matter is currently being addressed by Facilities Management.

The next Staff Council meeting was scheduled for Thursday, January 15, 2004. That meeting is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
