Hornets to Play First Ever National Tournament Game Against Bryan College at Home

Monday November 16th

Marietta, GA

Sunday November 15th was a day to remember for the Southern Poly Men’s Soccer program.  In just three years, Southern Poly, under Head Coach Kom Momeni, was granted the #8 seed in the 2009 NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship Tournament.  They will be hosting Bryan College from Tennessee this coming Saturday at Nuesoft Technologies Field, on the campus of SPSU in Marietta, GA.  Bryan College comes into the game with a record of 11-7 and The Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament Champions after beating #4 seeds Cavaliers of Montreat College.

The winners of the National Championship Opening Round game, in addition to host school Fresno Pacific (California.), will advance to the National Championship final site November. 30th - December. 5th in Fresno, California.  Here there will be a 16-team single elimination tournament with a possibility of playing four games in just six days if the team makes it all the way to the championship game.

This year’s 31 teams include 24 automatic qualifiers (conferences/independent/unaffiliated champions), six at-large bids and the host school, Fresno Pacific. The seeds are based on each team’s Longo ratings. There has been a different national champion in each of the last seven events.

This is the Hornet’s first National Tournament and the first time that they will play the Lions from Bryan College.
