MARIETTA, Ga. – After two straight wins to begin the 2012 season, the Southern Polytechnic State University men’s soccer team moved up one spot to second nationally, according to the first in-season NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll. Southern Polytechnic’s No. 2 national ranking is its highest ever in the six-year history of the program.
Along with Southern Poly’s undefeated start, another factor in the Hornets’ rise in the poll is previously No. 2-ranked Baker University being winless through its first three games of the year. Defending national champion Lindsey Wilson College remains the top-rated squad in the country after opening the campaign with four consecutive victories. The entire poll can be viewed at www.naia.org.
SPSU looks to stay unbeaten when playing a non-conference match at NCAA Division II Shorter University on Wednesday, September 5th. The contest is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Rome, Ga.
