There are no make-ups for missed mini papers. Doing your mini paper is essential preparation for participation in class. They may not be turned in late, but may be submitted electronically.
Due dates in the WebCT Calendar. Support all your arguments with logical development and evidence or examples. Mini papers must be typed. Be sure to put your name, section, and the assignment number on your work in the upper right-hand corner!
Always bring TWO copies of your paper to class. One to turn in and one to use. Be sure to double space. NO COVER SHEETS!
There IS an assigned topic / question for every paper! Click on the link below to get the specific assignment
Mini papers will be graded as follows:
ASSIGNMENT (3): Did you clearly and completely answer the question you were asked / fulfill the assignment you were given?
MECHANICS (1): Was your work relatively free of errors in spelling, grammar, etc. ( If your paper is a total mess, I reserve the right to give you a 1!) Did you follow the directions?
EVIDENCE (3): Did you support your statements with example and/or evidence? Did you get the details right? BE SURE all quotations and other borrowings are properly credited and use your own words whenever possible. You must use at least one example or piece of evidence from the assigned material. Be sure to give the page number(s) if the assigned material is reading. If the assignment is based on a film, you must use at least one SPECIFIC example or piece of evidence from the film.
ANALYSIS (3): Depth of argument / critical thinking / original ideas / logic / synthesis. (If you totally ignore the assignment, this score may be affected, too.)
3 = above average, an all-around good to outstanding job; 2 = about average, meets the guidelines above at a very basic level; 1 = below average, fails to meet the guidelines above
