Hickman: In the case of an emergency, such as H1N1 Flu outbreak, or some type of emergency where the campus is shut down for more than 2 days, I will execute my emergency course continuation plan. During this time it is vitally important that you continue to check your SPSU email because the university and I will use that medium as a first line of contact. I will conduct our classes via Skype, where you can login, see me, and have discussions. Also, the PowerPoint slides will be emailed to you prior to the beginning of class. To access Skype all you need is an internet connect and to download the software. It is just like Instant Messaging, but with greater flexibility because outside phone lines can call in as well. My Skype ID: drjamyehickman

HIST 1112: In the event of a university closure, I will send a bulk e-mail to the class each week in which I assign the weekly readings. These readings will come from both the textbook and reader. You will be able to match up the information you read with the lecture outlines that are posted on my web site. Then, every week, I will post a quiz on GeorgiaVIEW Vista 8. This way, we will be able to continue smoothly with the material until classes resume.

Emergency Plan: How I will conduct my classes in case of campus closure:
1. By Email:
a. Individual reading assignments including lecture notes that will require a completion of a short written test; OR
b. Group project(s) (each class divided into 6 small groups) which will require group members working together to complete a specific project; group members will evaluate each member’s participation; the project and each member’s evaluation will be emailed to me.
2. By Free Teleconference in case of extended campus closure (this will be used together with either one of the above):
Hold teleconference on one of the class days (e.g., Monday at the time assigned for the class); the procedure will be as follows:
a. Divide class or combine 3 small groups to form two teleconference groups;
b. Hold conference for each group for 35 minutes; this will enable all my classes to participate in the teleconference during their assigned class period for that day.

Williams:
If something happens and the class is not able to meet, your instructions are as follows:
Step One: All Psychology students will be informed by your Southern Polytechnic e-mail
with class details on when assignments are due. (Check e-mail, every Tuesday/Thursday).
Step Two: All Chapters should be read according to the Course Outline and all assignments
will be placed on WEBCT. When you have completed the assignment, e-mail that assignment
to me by the due date.
Step Three: If you are unable to get intouch with me by e-mail, then I will provide an emergency
number that will allow you to contact me during an emergency. This number will be available on
the WEBCT, as well as, my e-mail notices.
Wimer: In the case of campus shutting down for any reason, be prepared for class. Instead of meeting in a traditional classroom, we will meet virtually via WebCT. We will also be using a voice chat program called Ventrilo. I’ll give details during the course on where and how to download Ventrilo. As an alternative, we can also use the in-game voice chat in World of Warcraft (depending on the % of WoW gamers in class), or we can use both.
