Facilities Intercollegiate practices and recreational sports take place in state-of-the-art facilities such as the Recreation and Wellness Center, the Outdoor Recreation Complex, the Athletic Gymnasium, and Walter J. Kelly, Jr. Field. Recreation and Wellness Center The Recreation and Wellness Center offers a weight room with free weights, selectorize, and cardiovascular equipment; a multipurpose gym with basketball, volleyball, and badminton courts; an indoor walking/jogging track; racquetball courts; and a six lane 25 yard pool complete with an outdoor sunbathing area. Locker rooms and showers are available for SPSU students, faculty, and staff. Outdoor Recreation Complex The Outdoor Recreation Complex provides three softball fields, a soccer field, and a large multipurpose field for student use. Intramural flag football, soccer, and softball teams use the field year-round. The complex also features nine tennis courts and a half-mile jogging trail. Athletic Gymnasium and Walter J. Kelly, Jr. Field The Runnin' Hornets basketball teams practice and play in the Athletic Gymnasium. Athletic Department offices are also located here. The Southern Polytechnic baseball team plays at Walter J. Kelly, Jr. Field. |
