LADY HORNETS PICKED FOURTH IN SSAC RACE

Marietta, GA, Oct. 24, 2007 – Southern Polytechnic State women’s basketball team has been picked to finish fourth in the 2007-08 regular season conference race, according to a poll of league head coaches and sports information directors released this week.

The Lady Hornets collected 76 total points, trailing only Berry College, which garnered

79 third place votes. SPSU was picked to finish eighth place overall last year (2006-07) only to go against the odds posting a record of 18-14 to finish the season with third place accolades.

Southern Poly State returns its top four players from last year’s squad, which helped lead SPSU to the semi-final game of SSAC Tournament. The Lady Hornets welcome seven freshmen and two junior college transfers.
