SPSU receives #22 Ranking in preseason NAIA poll.  The Hornets will begin the 2008 season on February 4th at home versus Covenant College at 1 pm.

Hornets conclude outstanding academic fall semester.  Twenty-one players finished with a 3.0 GPA or better and the overall team GPA ended at 3.25. 

Two Hornets selected in 2007 MLB Draft.  Joe Billick was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the 19th round as well as Stephen Flake in the 34th round by the Florida Marlins.  Both have signed and will be reporting for short season. 

SPSU wins Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament behind strong pitching and timely hitting.  It took six games and five days for the Hornets to return to Marietta victorious.  Along the way were victories over Berry college (twice), Lee University, and Auburn University at Montgomery (twice, one loss). 

Four Hornets receive SSAC Awards as well as Coach Griffin being awarded Coach of the Year.  Joe Billick, Ryan Pearson, and Stephen Flake receive first team All-Conference selections as well as Scott Morris getting second team All-Conference.
