This section describes the Academic Computer Committee, as set forth in the Statutes (VI. B, 4). The Academic Computer Committee is one of the standing committees of the faculty.
Composition Of Committee
The Academic Computer Committee shall consist of thirteen members.
Six of these shall be from the Corps of Instruction and shall be elected
by the faculty, three being elected each year. Nominations are generated
by the Faculty Senate during the Winter quarter each year. The Deans of
Schools, the Director of Computer and Network Support, and the Director
of Microcomputer Support shall be ex-officio members. The committee also
has a non-voting student member. The chairperson of the Administrative
Computer Committee will serve as an observer.
The committee shall elect its own chairperson annually from among its members who are in the Corps of Instruction.
Responsibility of Committee
The committee, by virtue of its combined expertise, represents a significant
resource for the effective use of computer resources. To further this role,
the committee shall make itself available for participation in all phases
of the planning and use of computer resources for administrative purposes.
The committee also has continuing responsibility to help develop and maintain a comprehensive plan to provide computer resources which are adequate to meet the academic needs of the college. It shall recommend rules governing the use of such resources by members of the college community, and shall recommend and actively promote the acquisition and/or modification of equipment, space, and services.
