Background |
The University System of Georgia has established 12 official paid holidays for employees each calendar year (BOR Policy Manual 802.07). This university policy describes how those holidays are scheduled. |

General Policy |
As required by Board of Regents’ policy, Southern Polytechnic State University has 12 official paid holidays each calendar year. Annually, the President’s Office will distribute an official announcement listing all approved holidays.
The following seven holidays are observed every calendar year: § New Year's Day § Martin Luther King's Birthday § Memorial Day § Independence Day § Labor Day § Thanksgiving Day § Christmas Day
The remaining five holidays usually include the Friday following Thanksgiving Day and additional days in conjunction with Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. The President’s announcement referred to above will identify the exact days to be observed.
Note 1: A terminating employee is not paid for any official holidays after the last working day of his or her employment. Note 2: P & P 828.0 provides information about payment for holidays and about the relationship of holidays to vacation, sick, and administrative leave. |
