Compensation for Vacation When Leaving a 12-month Position

Background The purpose of this policy is to specify the compensation for vacation when an SPSU 12-month employee moves to an academic-year position at the university.

Employees
When a 12-month employee changes to an academic year appointment, it is expected that all accrued vacation shall be taken, if possible, prior to the change in appointment.  In the event that it is not possible for an employee to take all accrued vacation prior to the change in appointment, the employee shall be compensated in the last month of the 12-month appointment for the remaining vacation balance up to a maximum of 45 working days--subject to the availability of funds.

Becoming 12-
Month Faculty
Twelve-month faculty accrue vacation at a rate of 1-3/4 days per month.
