AdvisingAs a student, you're assigned a faculty advisor within your academic department. There is an Academic Advisor within your school who will help you with general issues.
Many degrees/certificates have a Program Coordinator or Program Director. All faculty have advising responsibilities. Contact your department to get the name and contact information for your faculty and academic advisors. Your advisors are here to help you plan your courses, give you career advice, and help you succeed at SPSU.
Many departments will place a "hold" on your record that will prevent you from registering for classes. Your advisors will remove the hold once you've communicated about your course selection and degree plan. Your advisors may, after you've discussed your plans, give you an "alternate PIN". This PIN is what you enter into Banner Web to gain access to register.
Start now and plan to contact your advisors well before registration for each new semester. Pre-planning with accurate information is critical to a successful degree plan and on-time graduation.
Undergraduate students who have not declared a major should contact the ATTIC at 678-915-7361 to get assistance with general academic advising.
Visit the SPSU Advising website for more information about advising.
