SEPT. 16, 2013 – Dr. Wendy Kallina will start work on Sept. 16 as executive director of institutional research. Dr. Kallina – who comes to SPSU from Georgia Military College, where she was vice president of institutional effectiveness – will report directly to President Lisa A. Rossbacher as a member of the senior leadership team.
Dr. Kallina has more than a decade of experience in higher education, including having served as an institutional liaison with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and as a psychology faculty member at Macon State College. Her work with state agencies includes having served as director of evaluation and research at the Prevention Research Institute in Lexington, Ky., and as operations program manager in the Georgia Office of the Child Advocate.
Her research on the use of institutional data to improve student success has been presented to a variety of professional groups such as SACS, the Southern Association for Institutional Research, the Association for Institutional Research, the Georgia Psychological Society, the Mid-South Educational Research Association and the Georgia Association for Institutional Research, Planning, Assessment and Quality.
At SPSU, Dr. Kallina will support the university’s mission with data analysis, interpretation and forecasting. Her work will inform decision-making in pursuing SPSU’s strategic and operational goals to support student success, and she will direct the collection, reporting and archiving of institutional data.
She will oversee the Office of Planning, Assessment and Institutional Effectiveness, and she will work closely with Dr. Becky Rutherfoord, associate vice president for institutional effectiveness and SPSU’s SACS liaison. Dr. Kallina will also collaborate with University Information Technology Services as SPSU implements a business intelligence program.
