WIE scholars

MAY 24, 2013 – The Atlanta chapter of Women in Electronics (WIE-Atlanta) has once again recognized the high caliber of female engineering students at SPSU, awarding four of its seven 2013 scholarships to them.

Valerie Washington, a junior in industrial engineering technology; Victoria Knox, a senior in mechanical engineering technology; Ruth Petit-Bois, a sophomore in software engineering, and Chelsea Patterson, a senior in electrical engineering, were honored at the organization’s annual scholarship dinner on May 9.

Last year, SPSU women won five of six WIE-Atlanta scholarships, and in 2011, the university brought home four of seven scholarships.

WIE-Atlanta's scholarship program is open to female students majoring in electronics, engineering, computer science, information technology and related fields. Students are selected based on academic performance, community involvement, personal achievement and financial need. Applicants are required to take part in a personal interview session.
