APRIL 17, 2014 – Congratulations to Dr. Sam Conn, vice president for Information Technology (VPIT) and chief information officer (CIO), on his appointment as CIO and vice president for Integrated Technologies at Empire State College in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., the nontraditional, open college of the State University of New York (SUNY) system.
On the heels of this announcement, Dr. Conn also received news that he is a finalist for the Georgia CIO Leadership Association’s 2014 Georgia CIO of the Year Award in the nonprofit/public sector category. The Atlanta-based organization will announce the winners at a banquet on Oct. 31.
Empire State offers associates, bachelors, and masters degrees at 35 locations across the state and around the world, primarily focused on working adults. The average age of undergraduates is 35 and graduate students 40.
“Dr. Conn joined SPSU just over two years ago, and during his time at SPSU, he has led University Information Technology Services to new heights of customer service, responsiveness, and professionalism,” said SPSU President Lisa A. Rossbacher in announcing the news.
Dr. Conn plans to make the transition to New York at the end of May.
