JAN. 17, 2014 – Earning a college degree is one of the most expensive investments an individual will ever make, but according to the website BestColleges.com, SPSU provides its students with one of the highest returns on tuition dollars in public higher education.
SPSU ranked 25th on the website’s list of 50 public “Colleges with the Best Return on Investment” (ROI), a ranking that compared the true cost of earning a bachelor’s degree to the median earning power of the school’s graduates over 30 years.
The list is based on Payscale.com’s 2013 college ROI rankings, which put SPSU at No. 9 among public and private colleges in the Southeast. Payscale.com’s data gave the total cost of attending SPSU (tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, etc.) as $79,290 and the 30-year net ROI as $934,500, for an annualized net ROI of 9 percent.
BestColleges.com cautions readers to keep in mind that, “This list measures the ROI of a bachelor’s degree in terms of dollars and cents only” and does not take into account the many other benefits of earning a degree.
Only one other Georgia institution – Georgia Tech – made the list, which can be viewed at http://www.bestcolleges.com/features/best-roi-colleges/
