New media arts major earns IGDA scholarship

Erich Schüler

MAY 24, 2013 – Erich Schuler, a junior in new media arts minoring in computer game design and development, is one of eight students nationwide to receive a 2013 scholarship from the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) to attend the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) – the premiere industry trade show for computer and video games and related products.

For scholars such as Schuler, E3 is an opportunity to glimpse behind the curtain and to see firsthand the practical side of marketing and business. They also receive mentoring from industry members and visit local studios during the show – scheduled this year for June 10-14 in Los Angeles – to gain a much broader understanding of the industry.

IGDA scholarships are among the most coveted awards for promising students in game development and related disciplines.
