The International Students Association (ISA) at Southern Polytechnic State University (SPSU) will host an International Festival on Wed., April 18, from 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m.

The program will begin with an opening ceremony at 10:30 a.m. in the Student Center, featuring cultural performances by various students, information tables and other activities that highlight the cultures and customs of SPSU’s approximately 400 international students.

The festival will continue with two lectures at 1 p.m. in¬ the Student Center – the student group Open Diversity will present “Sub-Cultures in America” in Room 215, and Dr. Iraj Omidvar, an assistant professor in the English, Technical Communication, and Media Arts Department, will talk about “Tunisia and the Arab Spring” in Room 216.

At 3 p.m., the ISA will host a reception in¬ the Student Center lobby featuring a variety of exotic food dishes prepared by SPSU’s international students.

“We are asking everyone to dress up in their cultural clothing or to wear their country’s colors on Wednesday. We would like to show just how much diversity SPSU truly has,” said the festival’s organizer, Guled Abdilahi of the ISA.
