SPSU research to help improve transportation safety

Dr. Yusun Chang

JUNE 10, 2013 – Dr. Yusun Chang, an assistant professor of electrical engineering, recently received a research grant worth $411,600 from the Georgia Department of Transportation for the project “Improving Transportation Safety for Sustainable Environments Using Vehicular Networking Technology.”

Dr. Chang is the primary investigator and SPSU is the primary contractor for the three-year project.

The researchers’ major objectives are to design, implement and test an emergency-message system that uses multi-hop vehicular communications to disseminate information designed to improve vehicle, pedestrian and bicyclist safety.

Two SPSU undergraduate students will assist with the project over the next three years.
