Southern Polytechnic State University's Mary Stoy has received the American College Counseling Association's Professional Leadership Award. She received her award at the organization's annual conference in San Antonio.
The Professional Leadership Award is given to the top college counselor in the U.S. by the American College Counseling Association. Stoy was cited for her experience serving on the executive council of the state and national association. She has served as president for both the Georgia College Counseling Association and the American College Counseling Association.
"I am very proud of this award. The recognition from my peers is the highest you can receive, because they are the ones who understand the job and the rewards," said Stoy.
Stoy has been a counselor at SPSU since 1993. She is currently active on the planning committee for a national convention in February 2002.
