Southern Polytechnic State University's Larry Aft has received the Fellow Award from the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE). He will receive his award during the Industrial Engineering Solutions 2001 Conference held in Dallas in May.

The Fellow Award is the highest grade of membership in IIE and is in recognition of outstanding leaders of the profession who have made significant, nationally-recognized contributions to the industry.

Aft, a professor in Southern Polytechnic's Industrial Engineering Technology department, has been a member of IIE for more than 30 years. He will receive a plaque at the upcoming conference.

"Recognition from your fellow colleagues is always a great honor," said Aft. "It's acknowledgment that you have performed service to your profession."

Aft has been with SPSU since 1971 and is president of IIE's Society for Work Science. Among other awards, he is a Fellow of the American Society for Quality, and the author of 10 textbooks.
