Southern Polytechnic State University has been authorized by the Board of Regents to offer a minor in Spanish. The full courseload of classes will be available fall semester.
"This is a tremendous benefit to our graduates. With the growth of the Hispanic community here in Georgia and in the marketplace, it's vital to be able to be communicate. This new minor gives our graduates that ability," said Bernice M. Nuhfer-Halten, Ph.D., from SPSU's Social and International Studies department.
Among the new classes are Hispanic Cultures and Civilizations and Spanish for Global Technology.
Southern Polytechnic State University is a residential university with approximately 4,000 students pursuing bachelor's and master's degrees in many of the nation's fastest-growing fields related to engineering and technology. One mile west of I-75's Exit 263, the university is 20 minutes northwest of downtown Atlanta, GA.
