James Fausett, an architecture professor at Southern Polytechnic State University, has received the 1999 Rothschild Award. The award is the highest honor that the Georgia AIA (American Institute of Architects) can bestow, and is awarded by the Board of Directors in recognition of the most distinguished service to the profession of architecture in the state.
"I'm very flattered to receive this, especially by my peers," said Fausett. "One of my great joys is to be able to inspire students to become active members in the architecture profession."
Fausett is a past president of the AIA, past chairman of the of the Architects' Foundation of Georgia and a former protocol chairman for the national AIA convention. Fausett is the thirteenth recipient of the Rothschild award.
Southern Polytechnic State University is a residential university with approximately 4,000 students pursuing bachelor's and master's degrees in many of the nation's fastest-growing fields related to engineering and technology. One mile west of I-75's Exit 263, the university is 20 minutes northwest of downtown Atlanta, GA.
