In honor of the company's 20th anniversary in Cobb County, Enplas (USA), Inc. awarded a $50,000 grant to Southern Polytechnic State University at a luncheon Tuesday, April 25, at the Enplas (USA), Inc.'s headquarters in Marietta.
"Enplas (USA), Inc. has long been a supporter of Southern Polytechnic. Our students and faculty are very excited about this generous gift from them," said Dr. Lisa Rossbacher, president of Southern Polytechnic.
The grant will be used to create the Enplas Scholarships to support students, particularly those focused on the plastics industry. "These Enplas Scholars will be a valuable connection between the University and the company," according to Rossbacher.
In addition, this grant will also enable Southern Polytechnic to acquire top-of-the-line plastics manufacturing computer modeling tools. "The new software programs will assist both faculty and students in designing and studying plastic moldings, " said Rossbacher.
Enplas (USA), Inc. also awarded grants to The Cobb Chamber and Kennesaw State University.
Former Georgia governor George Busbee attended the ceremony, in addition to local, state and international dignitaries. A contingent from Japan was lead by Makoto Yokota, founder and chairman of Enplas Corporation.
