New Southern Polytechnic State University Foundation board in place for next year

Southern Polytechnic State University's Foundation has announced its officers for the 2001-2002 year.

"Our new executive committee members all bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the Foundation," said Lynn L. Murray, director of development and scholarships at SPSU. "We are looking forward to an exciting year."

Oren C. Rusk, Jr., is the new Foundation president. Rusk, a graduate of Southern Polytechnic's class of 1963, is president of Howell Rusk Dodson Architects. Vice president is J. Mark Graham, director of human resources and administrator for Vulcan Materials Company. Treasurer is Sherri Scyphers Hungate, senior engineer/manager of NISH, Inc. Hungate is an alumnae from SPSU's class of 1987.

The new officers will spearhead an effort on behalf of the Foundation board to raise a minimum of $500,000 in private dollars. This is the largest goal ever undertaken by the SPSU Foundation, according to Murray.

The SPSU Foundation raises money for special academic and enrichment programs and projects that cannot be funded through state allocations.
