Southern Polytechnic State University has named Dr. Doreen Jadwick as the new assistant director of cooperative education and career services. Her responsibility is to enhance and expand experiental learning opportunities for SPSU's colleges while assisting with program planning and goal-setting in the Career Services office.

"I am excited about working here at SPSU, a University that has earned a reputation for excellence," said Dr. Jadwick. "I look forward to integrating efforts with the entire University while making significant contributions capitalizing on my strengths."

Dr. Jadwick has an associate degree in business administration from Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, NY; a bachelor's degree in human resource management from SUNY, also in Utica; and a master's degree in student personnel administration from SUNY. She also has an educational specialist degree in adult education/curriculum development and an Ed.D. in higher education administration from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton.

"It's an honor to have Dr. Jadwick on the Southern Polytechnic campus," said SPSU president Dr. Lisa A. Rossbacher. "She has a distinguished background in business administration, human resources, and curriculum development."

Dr. Jadwick worked for more than 11 years at Florida Atlantic University. While there, she launched the school's first alumni career mentor program, created an Introduction to Career/Life Planning 14-week course, and received numerous awards, her most recent being the Outstanding Mentor Award.

In the summer of 1995, she took the initiative to become involved in an international employee exchange program at the City of London Polytechnic, where she became familiar with the customs, culture and employment patterns in the United Kingdom. In the fall of 1999 she traveled to Zamosc, Poland, to learn more about the economic, political and cultural environment.
