Abstract

In China, promoting urbanization is the important strategy to resolve the problem of "Countryside, Agriculture, and Farmer". Along with the increasing demand of cities on the labor force and the transferring of countryside surplus labor force from agriculture, a huge social stratum appears in China – “farmer workers”. Because of the lower education level and worse living conditions, farmer workers also constitute the largest minority community in cities. Moreover, the countryside women in the “farmer workers tide” get less attention because of their small number. In the great urbanization progress in China, the living and development of countryside women haven’t been given enough emphasis for a long time; they gradually became the lowest class in the minority community.
This paper will analyze the background of countryside women participating in the urbanization progress. And from the difficulties of countryside women's urbanization, the author will give some suggestions about promoting the urbanization of countryside women, and spreading the road to cities for them.
