Abstract

Data warehousing (DW) and Data Mining (DM) have been vocalized as effective methods in utilizing information repositories in profit-seeking organizations. This research embarks on studying the role of Data Warehousing. The objectives are to explore the utilization of DW in the private sector organizations and assessing the value and potential of mining data warehouses in the private sector and to provide suggestions to management on the best approaches to deploy Data Warehouses for business corporate. To achieve these objectives, the paper studied the prerequisites for implementing DW, the steps to its success as well as its objectives and uses. Several recommendations were provided on how to set up a DW and effectively use it in achieving high quality strategic decisions. It was concluded that vendors of this technology should be targeting medium-sized companies and enhance their products to better meet the demands of large corporations
