Abstract

In the off line trade and traditional commerce, business people and consumers use cash, checks, and credit cards to make purchases. In today's business world, new instruments and forms are coming to play in the payment world such as electronic cash, electronic checks, electronic billing, electronic wallet, and use of credit cards to pay for Internet purchases. The objective of this research is to survey existing and forthcoming e-payment instruments, explain their pros and cons, and provide CEO's and CIO's and other stakeholders with guidance as to the best payment approach to adopt and which instrument(s) to utilize in the various business environment with emphasis on building IT strategy for e-payment in the Saudi Arabian business environment.
