Abstract Management and culture are most often treated in the sense of company culture, and numerous studies have examined the issue of company culture and management styles. An area which has received far less focus in management studies has been management involving the international arena. This includes both those situations in which managers are required to supervise individuals from other cultures as well as when managers find themselves in ex-pat situations dealing with individuals and cultural environments in which they may feel uncomfortable. As the marketplace of business increasingly involves these kinds of internationally nuanced cultural situations it is important to consider management as a function of international cultural issues, in addition to its function within a company culture.
