MATH 4451 SYLLABUS FOR Spring 2009

GROUP MEETINGS AND PRESENTATIONS: We will have group meetings at three points during the term:

 

1. In the second week of the term each student will make a 5 minute presentation to the group on their plan of study for the term.

 

2. At mid-term each student will make a 20 minute presentation to the group on their progress thus far.

 

3. At end of the term each student will make a 30 minute final presentation of their work to the group.

 

 

FINAL WRITE-UP : A final write-up of your work for the term is due at the time of your final presentation. 

 

GRADING: Your grade in the course will be assigned based upon the following weighted scores:

 

Presentations 30%

Final Write-up 20%

Remaining work during the semester during the semester  50%

 

Professor Edwards will grade the presentations.  The remainder of the student’s work will be graded by the student’s advisor.

 

Attendance is required at all presentations.  Absence from a presentation will be penalized by one letter grade.  The last day to withdraw with a grade of W is March 3.
