General Collection:
Books in the general collection circulate for four (4) weeks. In order to check out materials, you must be a current member of the University System of Georgia and present a valid photo ID at the Circulation Desk. Click here for Library hours.
* A Student who graduates from SPSU will be changed to the Alumni status automatically one semester after he/she graduates. The first semester of graduation, he/she still enjoys SPSU student borrowing privileges. A valid photo ID at the Circulation Desk is required for checkout.
Reserves:
Textbooks circulate for two (2) hours, other reserve materials circulate from two (2) to three (3) days, or seven (7) days as determined by the professor placing these items on Reserve. Items on reserve are searchable in GIL under "Course Reserves.'' You may search by Instructor, Department or Course name.

General Collection items have a four (4) day grace period. On the fifth (5th) day after the due date, all fines are assessed retroactively. There is no grace period on reserve materials. You will be blocked from borrowing, renewing or requesting library materials when you accumulate fines in excess $10 or when you have GIL Express overdue book. If you have unpaid fines and overdue books from other universities at the end of the semester you may be blocked from registering for the next semester.
You may renew books in person in the library or online via the GIL catalog. The library does not renew books over the telephone. To renew online, log into your GIL account, check the items you want to renew, and click the "Renew" button.
Requesting Books
If a book you need has been checked out to someone else, you may request it through the GIL online catalog. Click the "Request" link at the top or bottom of the screen on which the record for the book is displayed. When it is returned, you will be notified that the book is available for you to pick up at the Circulation Desk.
