The aim of the APS is to advance and diffuse the knowledge of physics by publishing physics research journals, sponsoring meetings and professional conferences, developing programs in physics education, engages in  career and development initiatives, monitoring the human rights of scientists around the globe, and recognizing professional accomplishment with a spectrum of prizes and awards.
