This subject guide is not a comprehensive listing of all the literary reference books in the Johnson Library, but a guide to finding biographical and critical information about authors. For the most part, the reference works listed here deal with British and American authors, although some of the works include coverage of world authors. Works on foreign literatures may be found in GIL by performing and Exact Search on Subject Headings:
German Literature
French literature, etc.
The library also has a number of reference sources which deal with specific literary forms, such as the epic or science fiction, which are not included in this guide. Use GIL to find books on these types of literature.
