Reserves Request Form

Print Reserves

Only required reading materials which the library owns are to be placed on reserve. Materials placed on reserve will remain on reserve only during the semester in which they are required reading, unless noted otherwise.

Reserve requests will be processed in the order they are received and as quickly as possible. Some materials may need to be recalled from library users before they can be placed on reserve. Requests must be made at least three days prior to the required date of use. Reserve request forms should be turned in at the Circulation Desk in the library.

Personal copies of books, sample texts, quizzes, and notes may be placed on reserve. However, the library cannot assume responsibility for these materials. Personal materials will be returned at the end of the reserve period, if so indicated on the request form. Please be aware that the library places a barcode label, a reserve sticker, and personal or departmental name on all personal materials placed on reserve. Items belonging to other libraries will not be placed on reserve.

Photocopies of a periodical article or small portions of a book may be placed on reserve. The library cannot make the copies. Faculty are required to provide manilla folders for copies placed on reserve. It is the responsibility of the faculty member requesting that copies be placed on reserve to comply with U. S. copyright law (Title 17 U. S. Code). Faculty are encouraged to consult the Regents Guide to Understanding Copyright & Educational Fair Use (http://www.usg.edu/legal/copyright/).

Faculty placing materials on reserve may designate them for two hour use (in library only), three hours, three days, or seven days. All two- and three-hour reserve materials are due at library closing time, regardless of how soon before closing they are checked out.

Materials will be removed from reserve at the time indicated on the request form, and returned to the faculty member or departmental administrative assistant. Materials may not remain on reserve continuously for more than one academic year, unless special provisions are made. Reserve materials which circulate fewer than ten times in a semester will be removed from reserve at the end of the semester, regardless of the period requested.

Electronic Reserves

To obtain the password, logon to your GIL account and click the "Request" button at the top of the screen . The electronic reserves password is changed every semester.
