The University Archives is the repository for materials produced by or about the University, as well as publications by faculty, staff and students of Southern Polytechnic State University. Included in the Archives are official records of the University, theses, books and articles authored by faculty, published material about Southern Polytechnic State University, and recordings of campus events. Faculty who publish books or articles should send a copy to the Archives.
Special Collections includes valuable, fragile, or difficult to replace materials, such as rare books, surveying maps, architectural drawings, and old architectural periodicals.
Items in the Archives and Special Collections do not circulate; they must be used in the library. Due to the fragile nature of many of the materials, a librarian must approve photocopying.
The Archives and Special Collections are open Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. TO 4:00 P.M. Most of the materials in the Archives and Special Collections are included in GIL, the library catalog. Special arrangements may be made to use Archives and Special Collections materials evenings and weekends by contacting the Archivist or the Reference Department during daytime service hours.
