Getting Registered

Registering for classes comes in several steps whether you're a new or returning student:

New Students:

  1. Complete online orientation.
  2. Look over “schedule of classes” found at https://banweb.spsu.edu/pls/PROD/schedule.main.
  3. Select courses you’d like to take based on the flowchart of the year you started.
  4. Contact your advisor about what courses you’d like to take (remember your advisor may be the program coordinator)**Remember to “mix” your general education and major courses, if possible.  Graduate students will just have major courses.
  5. Register yourself through Banner Web (refer to the Registrar's page for refresher on how to register yourself).
  6. If you have any problems registering – contact your advisor or the Academic Advisor (Ms. Ashley McClure (primary IT advisement contact) - amcclure@spsu.edu or Mrs. Beth Haynie (primary Computer Science/Gaming/Software Engineering advisement contact) – ehaynie@spsu.edu).
  7. After getting registered – pay your fees by the fee payment deadline.
  8.  Look up books at the bookstore (see Online Resource Guide for information) and purchase books.
  9. Plan on creating your 2-year plan by middle of semester and turn it in to your advisor.

Continuing Students:

  1. Look over “schedule of classes” to see what’s being offered next term
  2. Plan out a “preliminary schedule” based on your flowchart or list of courses
  3. Consult your 2-year plan to see if you have deviated from the plan at all – if you have deviated from the plan see your advisor and update your plan.
  4. Be sure to check the 3 phases of pre-registration dates.  Remember, after EACH phase there is a fee payment deadline.  If you don’t pay (or if you have financial aid your schedule will be held) your schedule will be dropped and you will have to re-register during the next phase.
  5. The earlier you can register, the better the chance of getting the courses/times that you want.
  6. Register yourself during one of the phases of registration through Banner Web.
  7. If you have any problems registering – contact your advisor or the Academic Advisor (Ms. Ashley McClure (primary IT advisement contact) - amcclure@spsu.edu, or Mrs. Beth Haynie (primary Computer Science/Gaming/Software Engineering advisement contact) – ehaynie@spsu.edu).
  8. After getting registered – pay your fees by the fee payment deadline.
  9. Look up books at the bookstore (see Online Resource Guide for information) and purchase books.
