Welcome to the Information Technology Department at Southern Polytechnic State University!

As part of the School of Computing and Software Engineering, the IT Department offers an undergraduate BSIT and BASIT, and a graduate MSIT program.  To ensure that our students receive the highest quality education possible, our curriculum incorporates various courses from information technology, computer science, software engineering and management, focusing on meeting the needs of IT users within an organizational and societal context through the selection, creation, application, integration and administration of computing technologies.  

Southern Polytechnic State University's BSIT program is accredited by ABET, which ensures that the program has met high-quality standards as set by the Information Technology profession.

We also offer the BSIT Degree completely online through SPSU or the WebBSIT program. The WebBSIT program is a collaborative effort between six University System of Georgia colleges and universities and is a wonderful alternative for those students who don’t have time in their busy lives to attend traditional classes on campus, such as those who are in the military or outside of the Metro Atlanta area and are unable to take our regular BSIT program online. In addition to the online BSIT Degree, we also offer a variety of MSIT courses online with either a full-time or half-time format.

In addition to the BSIT and MSIT degrees, we offer certificate programs for those interested in taking graduate-level courses, but not obtaining an additional degree.

Regarding Students:

  • Students are the most important people on the campus. Without them there would be no need for the institution.
  • Students are not cold enrollment statistics, but flesh and blood human beings with feelings and emotions like our own.
  • Students are not people to be tolerated so that we can do our thing -- they are our thing.
  • Students are not dependent on us ... rather, we are dependent on them.
  • Students are not an interruption of our work, but the purpose of it. We are not doing them a favor by serving them. They are doing us a favor by giving us the opportunity to do so.
