Strategic Goal #3: Create a Positive Environment

Objective: Create a Method of Accountability for a Golden Rules Operation

 

Strategies/ Develop a model for measuring success following the standards and practices that are established.

 

Action Plans: Define standards and practices beyond SPSU and (BOR) policy as it relates to creating a “Golden Rules Operation”

 

      1.   After Standards and Practices beyond SPSU and BOR policy are established,

            as it relates to creating a “Golden Rules Operation,” all employees, student

            group representatives, and other constituents of the University will attend required

            training program.   

  1. Participate in implementing Divisional/Departmental plans to utilize University Policy in a fair and consistent manner with all employees.
  2. Attend all training workshops
  3. If someone has not participated in the plan as laid out above, the supervisor and employee will create a plan of action to complete Steps 1-3 above.
  4. Supervisor to perform employee evaluation, utilizing the guidelines of the employee evaluation process.

 

Responsibility: For Buy-in purposes- President, Senior Staff, Expanded Cabinet, Department Chairs, Directors and all Supervisors.

For execution of project purposes- Executive Officer, VP Business and Finance

Responsible Offices, Human Resources

 

Time Frame:  Start April 2006 to be continuous/on-going.

Resources Required:  No additional funds needed

Assessment: Participation in training and all activities, demonstrated use of consistency in application of the policy, evaluations,  problem resolution, etc.

Use of Results:  Build trust among all levels of employees, dispel perceptions of favoritism, improve moral, helps to create a more positive environment, etc., Decrease level of complaints from all constituencies. Allows supervision to encourage the use of new Golden Rule standards that are received by all employees in a positive manner.
