1. Learning Outcomes

 

• Explains and interprets physical situations as stated in a word problem
• Identify the physical laws appropriate to the physical situation at hand.
• Predict the behavior of representative physical systems using mathematics as a tool.
• interpret the outcome of a physical system
• Use various types of data collection tools for the experimental investigation of physical laws.
• Represent physical systems in multiple representations:  i.e. mathematically, pictorially, graphically, etc.

 

2. Please briefly summarize the results of the measured student learning outcomes in the courses in this discipline, and then analyze what the results of the assessment process revealed.

 

• Students are struggle in predicting the behavior of a physical systems using calculus.  They do not have a problem representing the physical systems in terms of physical laws.
• Their ability on data collection in experimental investigation of physical laws and representing them in physical systems in different representations is above average
• There was a clear indication that even though this is a calculus-based physics Course, most of the students did not have either the ability to use calculus as a tool to predict the physical behavior of a physical system or the knowledge in calculus that is demanded by this course.
