Performance Criterion

Discuss the evolution of American popular music from the blues to contemporary music, in writing and/or in oral presentations.

  1. Demonstrate an ability to make informed aesthetic judgments about the arts, such as visual, performing, and literary.

70% of students will score a 70 or better on the final exam.

Demonstrate an understanding of the role of American classical music in the evolution of contemporary American music.

  1. Demonstrate an ability to make informed aesthetic judgments about the arts, such as visual, performing, and literary.

 

70% of students will score a C or higher on in-class presentations on a contemporary American classical composer.

Analyze the historical and cultural context of contemporary American music and its place in popular culture.

  1. Demonstrate an ability to analyze and interpret oral and written arguments and materials
  1. Demonstrate an ability to make informed aesthetic judgments about the arts, such as visual, performing, and literary.

 

70% of students will score a C or higher on in-class “music and children’s literature” presentation.
