Performance Criterion

Demonstrate the ability to analyze plays intended to be performed before a live audience.

  1. Demonstrate an ability to analyze and interpret oral and written arguments and materials
  2. Demonstrate an ability to make informed aesthetic judgments about the arts, such as visual, performing, and literary.

70% of students will satisfactorily complete detailed written analytical journals that interpret and explain various components of the drama.

Demonstrate an understanding of the relationship of the drama to the historical and political atmosphere of the time

  1. Demonstrate an ability to analyze and interpret oral and written arguments and materials
  2. Demonstrate an ability to make informed aesthetic judgments about the arts, such as visual, performing, and literary.

70% of students will score C or better on a group presentation that addresses historical and political contexts for a piece of drama.

Demonstrate critical and perceptual skills that enhance the enjoyment of theatre.
  1. Demonstrate an ability to analyze and interpret oral and written arguments and materials
  2. Demonstrate an ability to make informed aesthetic judgments about the arts, such as visual, performing, and literary.
70% of students will score a 70 or higher on an in-class test on Shakespeare’s Othello.
