A curriculum subcommittee consisting of three instructors reviewed a 25% random sample of student speech outlines from 15 sections of the public speaking courses taught in Spring 2008, with an average class size of 25. This method yielded a total sample of 78 student outlines. This curriculum subcommittee evaluated each outline, rating it satisfactory/unsatisfactory.
72% (56 out of 78) of student outlines demonstrated clear organization, including oral transitions and a minimum of three main points. |
