Use of Results Report
ECET - MS Engineering Technology with a concentration in Electrical Engineering
1. Please list the Program Outcomes which were met and briefly discuss these.
1. Knowledge of advanced topics within the electrical engineering technology field
There were three performance criteria but only ECET 6004 was taught in the 2007-2008 time period. Our performance criterion was that 80% of the students in ECET 6004 would score 80% or more for a course grade and 94% met this criterion.
3. The ability to apply the acquired knowledge and technology in solving complex real-world problems
Our performance criterion was that 80% of the students in ECET 7704 would score 80% or more for a course grade but this course was not taught in the 2007-2008 time period.
4. An ability to conduct an independent investigation of an appropriate topic in a technical area related to electrical engineering technology
Our performance criterion was that 80% of the students in ECET 7504 would score 80% or more for a course grade and 85% met this criterion.
5. An ability to convey technical material through formal written reports and presentations
Our performance criterion was that 80% of the students in ECET 7504 would score 80% or more for a course grade and 85% met this criterion.
2. If any program outcomes were not met, please list these and discuss these in more detail.
2. The ability to acquire, understand, and integrate new knowledge and technology within the field.
Our performance criterion was that 80% of the students in ECET 6201 and ECET 6404 would score 80% or more for a course grade. Eighty-three percent of the ECET 6404 classes scored above 80% and met this criterion. However, only fifty percent of the ECET 6201 class scored 80% or better. This class had an enrollment of six and of these one was an undergraduate who scored above 70% but less than the mark of 80%. For him this was a passing grade. One of the graduate students failed this course and is no longer enrolled in the graduate program. If these two students are discounted then 3 out of 4 (75%) scored above 80%. Since for an undergraduate student 70% was passing, we could consider the measure to be 4 of 5 passed the course (neglecting the failing graduate student) which mets the 80% level.

- Please discuss how you think that or anticipate that these results might be used.
These results illustrate that we are close to meeting all chosen criterion. The performance criterion for outcome 2 was based on student performance in ECET 6201 and ECET 6404. The 6404 class was rather small (six students) so the measure was difficult to satisfy. The 6404 class also had an unusual mix of students, including one undergraduate student, who needed 70% to pass, and one graduate student who had little interest in the course. Each fall semester we conduct a standardized evaluation of the faculty with a test called the SIRs. If a class has fewer than 12 the SIRs is not scored because of the small sample size. This evaluation needs to be administered for a class with a larger sample size.
- Please note below when you are tentatively planning to discuss these results and the use of these results with your faculty and with others.
The Graduate Program committee will be meeting during the fall semester to discuss these results and any need for changes in the measures.
4. Dates of Meetings: Please list below the dates of meetings at which the use of assessment results was discussed and also briefly summarize the discussions and decisions
