1. Please list
the Program Outcomes which
were met and briefly discuss these.
The curriculum for the A.S. in General
Studies consists of the completion of the University System of Georgia
Core Curriculum in Areas A-E, and an Area F requirement consisting of
an additional 18 hours of lower division courses from the following
groups:
- Humanities, 3-9 hours
- Mathematics or Science, 0-8 hours
- Social Sciences, 3-9 hours
- Other courses approved for Area C, D, or F, 0-9 hours.
Thus, the A.S. in General Studies is
essentially a degree composed almost entirely of core courses.
Program outcomes for the A.S. in General
Studies degree are therefore identical to those of the Core
Curriculum.
Students listed as "General Studies" are usually undeclared students,
with only a very small number ultimately earning the A.S. degree.
Evaluating core curriculum courses on the basis of these few students
would give unrepresentative results. Instead, whether the
Program Outcomes of the A.S. in General Studies were met is determined
by analyzing whether the Program Outcomes for the courses in the Core
Curriculum were met.
